Parent Newsletter 2 16
Dear Parents,
First I would like to thank all of the Grandparents who came to our luncheon last Friday. I know the children were so proud and excited to have you here. The food was yummy (Thank you Don Beto’s Restaurant) and the fellowship was even better. I was proud of our second grade class as they did a wonderful job reciting “Winkin’, Blinkin’ and Nod” two times using props to enrich their performance. Thank you, Mrs. Schneider for taking the time to prepare your students to share this special poem.
Everyone had an especially SWEET week due to our Valentines celebrations. I know I speak on behalf of all of our staff members when I say, “THANK YOU” for all of the cards, sweet treats, and remembrances for Valentines’ Day.
As you know, we have an SMS function on our website where parents can sign up to receive text messages on their phones. I noticed the other day that a number of you signed up, but either did not receive a confirmation code or did not send the code back to activate your account. If you have not received a text message from MVCS, please take time to go back to our website to try again to enroll. We would love to have everyone enrolled so that we could use this text tool to send reminders or emergency notices when needed.

Dear Parents,
Tomorrow is the big day – our annual Grandparent Appreciation Luncheon. Our PK and Kinder students will be eating with their grandparents from 11:15 – 11:50, and then we will clear the cafeteria and begin seating for the elementary lunch which will be from 12:00 – 12:50. Mrs. Schneider’s second grade class will be performing their rendition of the poem, “Winkin’, Blinkin’, and Nod” during each meal time, which will be a real treat. We are excited for this opportunity to let you grandparents know just how much we appreciate all you do for our students!
PTO met on Tuesday to plan for our Western Day to be held on Friday, March 9. This is the last day before our Spring Break begins, and will be a half day. We will fill this morning with LOTS of fun Western-themed activities, and would appreciate many of you parents coming to help us supervise the children and oversee some of the activities. Right now our plan is to have a hayride, petting zoo, art project, special snack, Western dancing, and an exhibit from the Valley Nature Center. PK and Kinder students will be dismissed at 11:45 and all others at 12:00. We will return to school on Monday, March 19th.

Dear Parents,
February arrived and brought the 100th day of school on the very first day. Several classes did special activities to mark the day, and to remind the children that the school year is more than half over. Today is Groundhog’s Day, but the children have a little trouble grasping the concept!
We have a number of activities coming up in February. The first item on our calendar is the PTO meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. (Please note the earlier time than usual.) Make every effort to attend this important meeting as plans for our annual Western Day activities will be finalized.
PLEASE be sure to purchase tickets for the Grandparent Luncheon by tomorrow as we would like to make sure everyone who wants to participate may do so. To insure that we have plenty of tables set up, please send in the little form on the reverse side of this letter if your child’s grandparents will be attending, but will providing their own lunch.
Our ACE class is still selling Valentine bears, lollipops, balloons, and cards if you would like a cute and convenient way to send your children some LOVE on Valentines’ Day. An order blank is going home in the backpack today, so please look for that.
The LUNCHBOX DERBY will be making a comeback after a couple of years break on February 24th. P.E. students will be talking about good food/bad food, and will build vehicles to race on that date. Only food items, wooden skewers, and toothpicks may be used in the building of these racers, so students must use their creativity to make sure they will make it to the end of the track! Students are also preparing for our Second Annual Science Fair & Invention Convention to be held on March 7th.
We will be having a busy second semester, so be sure to read all newsletters and check our website for extra updates. If you are not receiving occasional SMS texts, please go to our website to check your status. Once you register to receive these texts, you will be sent a confirmation number that you must type into the SMS page!
God bless you!

Dear Parents,
Let me start by saying how thrilled we were with the turn-out we had at Donuts for Dad! It was wonderful to see our students enjoying some quality time with their Dads, Grandpas, and other important people in their lives. We hope you enjoyed being here with your children and visiting with other fathers. I want to express my thanks for Mari Gomez for putting this event together and doing such a great job! We took some pictures of you and your child, and sent many home yesterday. Check with your child to see if he/she has that photo.
Ticket sales for the GRANDPARENT APPRECIATION LUNCHEON for Friday, February 10th are continuing. Parents may purchase tickets for the grandparents to attend either the first lunch period (11:15 – 11:50) with a PK or Kinder student or the second lunch period (12:00 – 12:40) with an elementary student. The caterer will serve enchiladas, rice, beans and dessert. The Grandparent plates are available for $4.00 each. If you would like to have your child’s grandparents participate, please fill out the form we sent home last week and return it with payment. If you lost that form, please just tuck a note in an envelope marked “Grandparent Luncheon” and send it to Rosie. Orders must be turned in by Friday, February 3rd. Tickets will be sent back to you via your child’s backpack.
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE ENCHILADAS OR WOULD JUST PREFER, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BRING A LUNCH TO THE LUNCHEON!!
Coach Ashley (Ashley Nicole Photography) will be setting up to take Valentine’s pictures here at school on Thursday, February 2nd. If you would like your child to participate, please fill out the form on the reverse side of this newsletter, and return it to the school so we will know to make sure your child goes during morning break to have the pictures taken. She will be sending home proofs for you to see before you order.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Parent Newletter 1 12
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! I hope that you all enjoyed the Christmas/New Year holiday, but that you are also excited to have your children back in school. It certainly seems to us that the children were very ready to come back to school to work and see their friends. We were glad to see them all!
January is usually kind of a quiet month here at school as we recuperate from the mad dash of December. We will have a couple of things to look forward to, however. First PTO will be meeting on Tuesday, January 17th (next week) at 6:30 p.m. Plans will be made for the second semester as well as arrangements made for DONUTS WITH DAD, which will be held NEXT Friday, January 20th. We invite all Dads to come join your child for a light breakfast from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. that day. As always, if Dad is not available to join us, Grandpas, uncles, and even Moms are welcome to come. This is always a fun family event, and we would like all of our students to be able to participate!
We are also in the process of working on our annual Grandparents’ Luncheon to honor all of these VIP’s in our students’ lives. We will start selling tickets to this luncheon next week, so please look for the newsletter next week as we will have a ticket order blank attached to it. Our students really enjoy having their Grandparents here on that day, so please have them mark Friday, February 10th on their calendars!
You received your tuition and second semester book and activity fee invoices this week. Please be sure to pay these in a timely manner. Thank you, and God bless you all!
