May 17, 2012 Dear Parents, It’s that time of year. Time to say good-bye. Even though everyone is tired and ready for a change of pace, it is still hard to let these children go. They have become ours, on good days and bad, through laughter and a few tears, we have watched them grow from very young children to up-coming kindergarteners. They are ours and always will be. But before they go, we have a few more things to do. Next week we will be packing up the room and the children will help. It is a good way to help them realize that the school year is ending. So they will help us clean toys and put things away. Also next week we will stop using happy face behavior charts and instead look for a sticker each day in your child’s folder. The end of the year program on Tuesday, May 22nd is geared for the older children. Of course you are welcome to attend but our children will not be participating. The last day of school is Thursday, May 24th. It will be a half-day with after school care offered after 11:45. We are planning an outdoor day with bubbles, painting with water, watermelon, cookies and drinks. We will send everything home the day before so your child needs nothing but a lunch if they are staying and are not getting a school lunch. They will not need backpacks or folders or snacks that day. Please dress your child with drippy watermelon in mind! This summer we urge you to read to your child everyday. It is the single most important thing you can do to help your child get ready for reading himself. It doesn’t matter what you read, as long as it is an enjoyable experience for both of you. It won’t be long before your little one will be reading to you so don’t miss this opportunity. Finally, thank you for sharing your children with us. We have enjoyed everyday. We look forward to hearing all about their future successes. From this group we know there will be many. Have a safe and happy summer
